 The creative IT engineering department of Postech (Pohang University of Science and Technology), South Korea, came up with this stunning image of blood vessels in a mouse's ear. Titled Cherry Blossom, the image taken by doctoral student Jaewoo Kim won the silver prize at a light image contest held by the Optical Society of Korea. Mr Kim and his adviser, Professor Chulhong Kim, produced the image using photoacoustic tomography, a biomedical imaging method which combines optical and ultrasound techniques.
