Brew-IT Social Media Business Networking Session Planned

In today’s online world, where seemingly everyone posts, Tweets and Snapchats, it’s easy to feel lost or left behind … especially if you are a small business owner. If you would like to know more about how social media could benefit your business, join the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce at an informal gathering on Thursday, July 16. From 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Pub on the Cedar, the Chamber is offering the first “Brew-IT” session to offer a little insight into the world of social media, answer questions and explore the need for future informative sessions. 

This gathering is free and open to all. Refreshments will be served and beverages will be available for purchase through The Pub. Brew-IT is a collaborative effort between the Chamber and the Small Business Development Center at North Iowa Area Community College to address the subjects of social media and technology as they relate to business. Guest speaker Deb Brown specializes in communications, branding and working with small groups to create social media plans that work for them. More of a presenter than a speaker, Brown shares stories and advice about social media, working and living in a small town and creating the kind of community you want to live in.

Brown is also the Webster City Iowa Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director and loves to tell the stories of how they’re changing their town into the kind of place the community wants to live, work and play in. Brown says the goal is to present information that you can then take home and put to work. Wicks explained that the direction the Brew-IT gathering will take moving forward will be dictated by its participants, including how often the group meets, when and what topics they would like addressed.
